ART IS ARTISTIC...When I write music, I’m thinking of its reformation and its perpetual improvement at the same time. For the last ten years I’ve been trying to revive, recompose and perform (from the very beginning) almost all of my work. An arduous task, given the fact that it took place simultaneously with 3 operas, about 15 movies and, with no exaggeration, over 100 songs.During this procedure I did not change any of the outlines that I had upgraded. I just trimmed and added new experiences according to recent knowledge and technological developments. At the same time I corrected some problems due to the meanness and limitations of certain record labels. Since music is almost the only art that allows multiple interpretations, I won’t apologize for the new performances of my work. Some of them have taken on a new dimension. In this way I created a “small musical industry”, called “IDAIA” (the ancient name of Crete). It’s an efficient recording studio with a small workshop for cd front covers, all of them designed by myself and a group of new talented friends:Minos Mamangakis (sound mastering), Panayiotis Papaioannou (singer and front cover assistant). Also Dimitris Dermanis (musicologist and musician), Manolis Androulidakis (guitarist), my thanks to Dimitris Livanos (bouzouki) for his total devotion and to the surprising new talented lyra player Lefteris Andriotis and Andreas Arvanitis, to the excellent percussionist Andreas Pappas and to the very important flute player Nikos Katrizidakis and Evi Mazi, as well as Mihalis Tzouganakis for his magical lute and voice. The multi musician Antoine Fachart (piano, trumpet, bouzouki). Yiannis Karidas (technical support), Manos Yovatzidakis (technician), Marilena Stafilidou (photographer) , the translator Stella Stafylidou, my friend Paris Mitsou, the literature professor Despina Kanellakis. My thanks to Sotiris Tziotzios for his help in our efforts and the writer Elias Voliotis - Kapetanakis. P.S.: My desire is not to become a record company, my financial aims are that I don’t lose any money, nor do I consider using the companies’ methods. My ultimate goal is to spread all of my accomplishments in art in as natural a way as possible. I must say that I have been very fortunate to have worked with many talented poets.I owe a great thanks to these very talented artists: Sapfo (70), G. Hortatzis, B. Kornaros, Pantzelios, K. Kavafis, N. Kazantzakis, P. Prevelakis, D. Solomos, A. Kalvos, Makriyannis, K. Varnalis, G. Seferis, G. Ritsos, N. Eggonopoulos, F. Lorka, B. Basilikos, K. Kariotakis, M. Polidouri, G. Ioannou, M. Ganas, I. Kabanellis, D. Xristodoulou, D. Iatropoulo, N. Theofilou, the poet Athina Karataraki and Victoria Makri.“Addition for the new releases”This is the second part of my work that I am releasing, 18 cds ,22 song collections for voice and piano included, as well as four books (poetry – literature) following my previous release of 22 cds.In this part I include: “The Besieged Slaves”, “Of Love and Passion”, in Greek and Spanish and “Volume I”, that are re-edited. Completely new releases are the following: “Words of Love”, “Sapfo’s Anguish”, “Egomia/Egomium for my friends”, double cd, “Invisible Company”, “24 songs on K.P. Kavafis poetry”, “Lost Homelands”, a folk epos, “Sudden Act”, “Variations for Rembetika”, triple cd, and most of all the “Avant-garde” box with five cds, a topping of my pioneer work, and finally 22 albums (scores) for voice and piano that correspond to 22 song collections. I consider a major achievement the edition of these four books. The first is an essay called “Dialogues on contemporary Greek music” by musicologist Yiannis Papaioannou, next is “New Erotokritos” by Pantelis Prevelakis in first worldwide edition, then it’s “Poems” by George Kalomenopoulos and finally the folk epos of Pantelios “Daskaloyiannis’ Song”. I must also include: “The Excursion” in a new version with guitarist Pavlos Kanelakis (the previous cd stock was destroyed during storage) and “Centre of Passers’ By” which is released in a new orchestration and added all the piano pieces played by multi-musician Antonis Fachart (piano, trompet, bouzouki). In the second part I am using Natalia Rassouli, a great singer in my opinion, the top folk singer Andreas Karakotas, Denia Kouroussis, the exceptional Zacharias Karounis, Maria Dakanali, Panayiotis Papaioannou ,who’s my new singer and collaborator and of course the great Tassis Christoyiannis. The frame decoration of some cd covers is detail from a painting by S. Christidis.
